Rain Barrel Workshop
Saturday, May 12, 2012, 09:30am - 12:30pm
Hits : 390

There will be two rain barrel workshops this year, May 12 and June 10!

Presenter: Liz LoGiudice, Extension Educator

Get involved in Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District’s Schoharie Watershed Month by participating in this rain barrel-building workshop! This program will introduce participants to the benefits of using rain barrels and will provide instruction on building the barrels from simple materials.  Building your own rain barrel is fun and easy, and best of all, you'll have your very own barrel to take home with you! This workshop is for those interested in saving water and reducing rainwater runoff.  The water you save can be used for garden and lawn watering, washing your car, or it can simply be released more gradually into the ground where it can recharge our groundwater supplies. All materials will be provided, but participants must transport their 55-gallon rain barrel to their home! Offered in conjunction with Schoharie Watershed Month, class participation is limited primarily to residents of the Schoharie Reservoir Watershed.

Funding from a grant from the Schoharie Watershed Advisory Committee helps to offset costs for this program.

Registration will be open to Schoharie watershed residents from April 1 to May 4. Registration for all others will be accepted on a space-available basis from May 4 to May 10.

Location Sugar Maples, Maplecrest, NY
Contact 518-622-9820
Cost is $10 and registration deadline is May 10.
